Spring this is the perfect time to freshen up your garden, ready for the warmer months to enjoy outdoor entertaining or simply sitting quietly, being in nature. Gardens require on-going maintenance and care to ensure optimum plant health. Investing time and energy in your garden is investing in your own health and happiness.

Follow these helpful tips and you will be surrounded in a healthy vibrant garden…

Fertilizing

Apply organic fertilizer such as pellet-based, compost, or liquid concentrates ready for the growing season. Fertilizers provide beneficial nutrients to soil, plants, and lawn – it is very important to purchase the right product as plants require different fertilizers for each season. Neutrog products are a great choice.

Select pruning trees / shrubs and de-thatching lawns

During the cool months of Winter leading into Spring, trees, shrubs, and lawns are more dormant. This is a great time to select prune, removing inward limbs to reduce the effects of pest and disease, create balance, allow good air, and light movement and encourage new growth. These same benefits apply to removing excess thatch and weeds in lawn.

Hard surfaces

Revitalize hard surfaces to help remove unwanted moss and dirt build-up, by using an organic cleaning concentrate or high-pressure cleaner. This will help keep paths and hard surfaces clear and safe to walk upon.

Mulching garden beds

Apply soft gum-bark mulch to help retain water, control soil temperature, and suppress weeds… it also provides great colour and texture contrasts.
