• Leap into Tasmania’s clear winter skies and enjoy a walk on kunanyi/Mount Wellington. See snow and explore the southern stars with the naked eye. Take your furry friend for a walk on-lead through the Lenah Valley track or the Fingerpost track. The Zig Zag track is set to open in July after it has had some upgrades, ready for you to ascend to the peak!

 

  • Mount Field National Park is fabulous for keen skiers and snowboarders throughout winter and is only a 90-minute drive from Hobart. Even if you aren’t up for extreme sports the World Heritage Area is also home to many walks, waterfalls and the chance to see Tasmanian alpine plants such as pandani, scoparia, pineapple grass and cushion plants.

 

  • Huon Valley Mid-Winter Festival is on again in 2022 and falls on the 15th, 16th and 17th July. Located at the Willie Smiths apple shed in the Huon, the 3-day festival is full of artists, storytellers, experiences and activities for the kids. Take part in a fire long table feast with barrel aged special cider, the famous wassail song or even dress up and enter the costume competition.   • The Festival of Voices is also on again this year from 1st – 10th July for its 17th year running, their purpose is to create a means for people to come together and celebrate the power of song. Designed specifically to embrace the unique experience of winter and bring light and enjoyment to the people of Hobart in what is traditionally a cold and quiet season.   • Taste your way through Tasmanian Whisky with many locally produced blends winning top awards overseas. The Tasmanian Whisky Trail visits distilleries such as Lark and Sullivans Cove in Hobart, or if you are up for a road trip, visit Launceston Distillery and Hellyers Road Distillery. The Tasmanian Whisky Week in August is a week-long festival featuring exciting events hosted by Tasmanian distilleries, bars, restaurants and hotels.
