As the final weekend approaches before the kids are back at school, you may be trying to put aside an hour or two (optimistic we know), to get the house back in order!

Cleaning often gets pushed to the bottom of the to-do list; however, we would like to try and help make cleaning easy with the below hacks, tips and tricks:

Lemon Oil

In addition to its scent benefits, Lemon oil is a natural degreaser for the oven and an excellent tool to remove stubborn grease stains. Simply mix lemon essential oil, water and vinegar into a spray bottle to use as your cleaning agent.

Baking Soda

To eliminate dirt and odour from your dishwasher, baking soda is your friend!

Add 1 cup of baking soda to the bottom of your empty dishwasher and let it sit overnight. In the morning, run the hottest possible cycle using vinegar instead of detergent to clean and deodorize your dishwasher. Remember to also remove any debris from the filter.

Shower Screen

Keep a squeegee in the shower, at the end of your shower quickly wipe down the glass to remove excess water. This will keep the glass looking much cleaner for longer and minimise soap scum and water marks.

Microwave

Fill up a cup with cold water and heat in the microwave for one minute, the steam will dislodge the stains in your microwave making it quick and easy to wipe off.

Bed sheets

Over time, our bed becomes a haven for bacteria, dirt and other nasties to build up whilst we sleep. To deep clean your sheets, soak them in the sink with hot water and add 1 cup of vinegar as well as a couple of tablespoons of dish liquid. Soak for 30 minutes, then ring out and transfer to the washing machine. Add ½ cup of baking soda to the washing machine drum and turn onto a heavy cycle on the hottest setting. Fingers crossed this should do the trick to remove any odours and bacteria!
